Jill Swary (Grandview / Wittenberg U) – Assistant Girl’s Coach at Grandview
Coach Daup helped me become a more confident and aggressive player while emphasizing the fundamentals of the game. He is aware of the demands of a college program and helped me realize how much hard work and dedication would be involved to succeed at the next level.
Ryan Pedon (Bexley / College of Wooster) – Assistant Men’s Coach at U of Toledo
Learning from Coach Daup truly prepared me for college basketball. His teaching and overall knowledge of the game were very beneficial for me and influenced my growth both as a player and as a current assistant college basketball coach.
Maria Call (Dublin Scioto)
I could probably write a book with all the basketball knowledge Coach Daup taught me
as a four year starting point guard. He taught me more than the skills of the game – like, if I wanted to achieve my dreams and goals, my commitment of spending extra time and effort was an important part of making it happen. Thanks to Coach Daup, I learned to play with “no fear” and “no limits” and to push myself beyond my comfort zone.
Jill (Repass) Elliott (Gahanna Lincoln / Otterbein College)
Coach Daup is the most positive coach that I played for in my 15 years of playing organized basketball. He is the coach that gave me the drive to play college basketball and also the coach that helped me gain confidence in my abilities. Coach Daup’s talent, ability to teach the game, confidence he shows in his players and methods of training are
exceptional.
Carolyn Simpson (Dublin Scioto High School / Denison University)
Coach Daup is responsible for teaching me offensive moves that I find effective in the college game. As a post player, it is difficult to find someone who will take the time to teach you what the inside game is about, and Coach D was the one who did that for me.
Not only does he have a great deal of knowledge about the post position, but he is also willing to patiently teach you what he knows.
Kyle Conley (Ridgedale High School / Tiffin University) Lake Erie College Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach
Coach Daup is a tremendous teacher of the game. His passion and energy for the game of basketball is contagious. As a former player under Coach Daup, I witnessed his ability to not only teach the game, but relate to and motivate today’s basketball player. His experience and knowledge would be helpful to any player, but also to coaches looking to improve themselves.
Talia (Brader) Cromwell (St. Francis DeSales High School / Ohio Wesleyan University) St. Francis DeSales H.S. Girl’s Varsity Assistant
I played AAU basketball under Coach Daup while in high school. This was a critical time in my development as a player, and I feel Coach Daup and my AAU experience facilitated this! My skills as a point guard (both offensively and defensively) improved, and I grew as a leader. Besides his help with my individual game, Coach helped instill a sense of “team” into me and my teammates.
Brad DuPont (Massillon Jackson High School / Wheeling Jesuit)
Coach Hoover and Coach Daup gave me the best tips that gave me not only great fundamentals, but gave me confidence to perform to my greatest ability. Coach Hoover and Coach Daup push you to do well in their camp and also give you the motivation to work harder in everything you do. Every offensive drill, every defensive drill, every footwork drill, JDH Winners’ Edge gives you the techniques needed to take your game to the college level.
Crystal Murdaugh (Dublin Scioto H.S. / North Carolina A&T / BGSU)
Having Coach Daup as a high school basketball coach for four years is one of the reasons I am the type of person and basketball player I am today. I was a one dimensional player when I entered high school and had no confidence in my jump shot. Coach got me to believe in myself by providing me with various drills and showing me different techniques to improve my jumper. Every time I worked with Coach, I noticed improvement in my jump shot and I started to believe that I could shoot as well as anyone else. Coach also helped me learn about the importance of “team” and having a good work ethic. Overall, my skills, knowledge, and purpose of the game of basketball have completely changed because of one of the best and smartest coaches out there. After being named O.C.C. Player of the Year, Central District Co-Player of the Year, 1st Team All Ohio, and receiving a basketball scholarship to Bowling Green State University, I will never take for granted what Coach has taught me. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to play for him.
Domini Paradiso (Bishop Watterson High School / St. Mary’s College)
As a high school post player, I have never been to a basketball camp like JDH Winners’ Edge where I received so much one-on-one attention. During the camp, the tremendous coaching staff helped me to refine my post moves, improve my outside shot, increase my agility, and boost my confidence. The coaches were positive with me and always eager to answer any of my questions. I LOVED JDH Winners’ Edge Camp and can’t wait to go back this year!
Cathy Szall (Columbus West / Ohio University)
Coach Daup taught me the specific techniques needed to develop individual skills that couldn’t be worked on during team practices. Without individual and small group instruction with Coach Daup, I would not have been able to play Division I basketball at Ohio University.
